Borneo has one of the best
dive spots in the region as well as worldwide. Most are concentrated in the
Malaysian state of Sabah, such as Sipadan, Mabul and Kapalai islands near
Semporna in the East Coast of Sabah. The other top spots include Lankayan
near Sandakan. Sipadan is the most well-known among all dive spots in
Borneo. It is the only oceanic island in Malaysia, rising 600 metres (2000
ft) from the seabed. Mabul is an enchanting island where every coconut tree
has its own number. Kapalai is an island resort built on stilts in the
middle of the sea. Lankayan is regarded as the new diving frontier in the
