EMPLOYER IN SIPADAN OVERJOYED OVER HER RELEASE SEMPORNA, Aug 16 (Bernama) -- Lucrecia Dablo, who was among the 21 people
kidnapped from Sipadan Island almost four months ago, expressed joy and relief upon
learning the news of her release on Wednesday.
Sipadan Island Resort Manager Thomas Mok said he was happy that Lucrecia was finally freed
from captivity on Jolo island. "I'm glad she is being freed and hope that the rest
would also be released as soon as possible," he said when contacted, here, Wednesday.
He said the Filipino lass worked as a cook at the resort for six years before being
abducted by armed gunmen on April 23. "She is quite a nice and jovial person and we
used to nickname her Aida," said Mok, adding that she has no relatives here.
Dablo, 35, was handed over to chief government negotiator Robert Aventajado on Wednesday
and was taken to the house of the provincial governor on Jolo, South of Manila before
being flown out to Zamboanga.
Dablo is the eighth person to be released by the armed gunmen, after six Malaysians and a
German woman.
Aventajado was quoted as saying that the others, as well as a three-member French
television crew, might be released by the weekend.
