House of Sabah Deputy CM razed (Sabah)

KOTA KINABALU: A house of Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Lajim Ukin in Beaufort, about 100km from here, was razed in an afternoon fire yesterday.

There were no casualties as the five occupants of the house in Kampung Memapagar, including Lajimís daughter and her husband, were out when the fire broke out around 2pm.

A team of firemen from the Beaufort station rushed to the scene but were delayed after they were caught in heavy traffic along the road due to the weekly tamu being held in the area.

Fire and Rescue Department officer Arif Matyassin said there was also a water shortage as there were no hydrants in the area.
